 |
| Virginia is a state. It is one of the 48 continental states (the
non-continental states being Alaska and Hawaii), and one of the original 13 British
colonies (you know, from back in the day). If you're traveling to us from Europe, you'll
just wanna head due west and keep swimming until you hit land again. If you're
coming from Mexico, you'll be heading generally northeast. If you're coming from Canada,
you'll wanna head south, and then a bit to the east. Not very funny? Ok... moving on... |
 |
| Charlottesville is located in central Virginia at the intersection I-64
and US-29. If you're coming from the east (Richmond or Virginia Beach), you'll want to
take I-64 West to Charlottesville. If you're coming from the west (Staunton or Waynesboro),
you'll want to take I-64 East to Charlottesville. If you're coming from the north
(Washington, DC), you'll want to take US-29 South... and if you're coming from the south
(Danville or Lynchburg), you'll want to take US-29 North. |
 |
| If you're coming to us on US-29 South (from DC), skip this step... If
you're on I-64 (East or West), you'll be looking for Exit 118 B. This Exit will put you on
US-29 North. If you're coming to us from the south, you should already be on US-29
North...
Once you're on 29 North, stay on 29 North all the way into Charlottesville. 29 North
will join with 250 West... don't be alarmed!! You're heading the right way!! Stay on this
road and be looking for the Barracks Road Exit. At the bottom of the exit ramp, take a
right... |
 |
| If you're coming to us US-29 South (from DC), you'll stay on 29 South
through the Emmit Street commerial section of Charlottesville (the stirp malls, the
shopping centers, etc...). When you see signs for US-250 (you'll be passing Best Buy), get
in the left lane, and be on the lookout for Barracks Road. It'll bea big intersection...
it's hard to miss. Take a left onto Barracks Road... Once on Barraks Road (no matter how
you got here), you'll stay on Barracks Road. Barracks road will become Preston Avenue --
they're the same road, just different names for no good reason. |
 |
| As you pass Washington Park, you'll be approaching a very confusing
intersection (see below... I mean, really... who designs these things!?). There will be a
road merging with Preston from the right... stay in the far left lane as you pass through
the traffic light. Just past this traffic light, but only partially through this bizzare
intersection, there will be a left-hand turn lane -- take this left into Preston Plaza
shopping center. As you turn into Preston Plaza, you will see Mona Lisa Pasta and Sticks
Kebob Shop... the Outback Lodge is located on the far side of these two shops. Circle
around the main structure, and you'll see our big, green awning. Park and come in...
you've made it!! |
